Build a modality worklist from the RIS
Goal: the RIS sends its orders to the router over HL7; modalities query the router’s worklist; when an examination starts and completes, the worklist follows, and the RIS is told.
1. Receive HL7
Section titled “1. Receive HL7”Configuration › Settings › HL7 and modality worklist:
- HL7 port:
2575(any free port). Every node opens it. - HL7 senders (addresses): the RIS’s or interface engine’s address. HL7 has no sign-in, so list them.
- MLLP over TLS if the RIS supports it.
Give the RIS the router’s address (the load balancer’s, with several nodes) and that port, and have it send its orders (ORM^O01, OMI^O23 or OMG^O19) and patient updates (ADT^A08, A31, A40).
2. Let modalities query it
Section titled “2. Let modalities query it”On each modality’s source, tick May query the worklist (optionally Only these modalities, such as CT), and
leave May report performed procedure steps (MPPS) on. On the modality, set the router as its worklist provider: the
router’s address, the listen port, AE title ROUTES.
3. Tell the RIS what was done (optional)
Section titled “3. Tell the RIS what was done (optional)”If the RIS wants status updates, add it under Settings › HL7 status update receivers: its host and port. Whenever an examination starts, completes or is discontinued at the modality, the RIS gets an order status update.
Check it
Section titled “Check it”- History › Worklist lists the orders as they arrive.
- On the modality, query the worklist: today’s orders for that modality appear.
- Start and complete an examination: the item goes In progress, then Completed.
Modalities without MPPS
Section titled “Modalities without MPPS”Tick Complete an item when its study arrives: an item completes when its study reaches the router.
