Send to the PACS and a copy to a VNA
Goal: modalities send once, to the router. Every study reaches the PACS as it was received, and a lossless JPEG 2000 copy reaches the VNA for long-term storage.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The PACS’s and the VNA’s host, port and AE title, and both set up to accept the router (its AE title
ROUTESand every node’s address). - The modalities’ calling AE titles and network.
- Destination: PACS. Configuration › Destinations › Add destination: name
PACS, host, port, called AE title. Leave Transfer syntaxes on the default. Save, then Echo. - Destination: VNA. Add
VNAthe same way. Under Transfer syntaxes, give it its own list: JPEG 2000 Lossless › As received. Save, then Echo and Test syntaxes to see what it accepts. - Source. Configuration › Sources › Add source: name
Modalities, Calling AE titlesCT*,MR*,DX*(one per line), Remote IP ranges the modalities’ network. - Route. Configuration › Routes › Add route: name
Modalities to PACS and VNA, sourceModalities, destinationsPACSandVNA. - Point the modalities at the router: its DNS name, the listen port, AE title
ROUTES.
Check it
Section titled “Check it”- Send a study. On Monitoring you see it arrive, then two deliveries, one per destination.
- In History, open the study: each instance shows Delivered to both, the VNA’s in JPEG 2000 Lossless, converted from what was received.
Variations
Section titled “Variations”- Only some studies to the VNA: a second source with a header condition (say
Modality Equals CT|MR) and its own route above this one, sending to both; this route then sends the rest to the PACS only. See Routes. - The VNA over a slow link: a schedule limiting it during the day; the PACS is not held up, since every destination has its own queue.
- Make sure the VNA has them: tick Request storage commitment on it, and the history shows Committed.
