Fetch relevant priors for the radiologist
Goal: when a new study arrives, the patient’s most recent earlier studies of the same body part are fetched from the archive and sent to the reading PACS (or workstation), so they are there when the radiologist opens the new one.
- The archive: on the destination for your archive (or old PACS), tick Query/retrieve archive. Retrieve: through the router needs nothing set up on the archive.
- The route that sends new studies to the reading PACS: under Prior studies, tick Fetch prior studies, and
set:
- Most recent studies: 3;
- Not older than (years): 5;
- Only studies of the same body part (and not of the other side);
- Also studies whose body part cannot be told: on, unless your archive’s studies are well described.
- Leave Send them to empty to use the route’s destinations, or choose the reading workstation only.
Check it
Section titled “Check it”Send a new study for a patient who has earlier studies. History › Prior studies shows the request, how many priors were found and fetched; the priors appear in History with source Prior studies, and arrive at the reading PACS.
Tuning which priors count
Section titled “Tuning which priors count”The body part comes from keywords in the studies’ descriptions. If your RIS uses its own abbreviations (CTCAP,
MRLSP), add them: Configuration › Settings › Relevant prior studies › Edit a copy of the built-in list, then add
the abbreviations to the right body parts and save. See Prior studies.
